This year, David Simon returned to HBO with his biggest muse in tow: Baltimore. Unfortunately, the source material hasn't improved much since his masterpiece,The wire. But the result is a powerhouse of a limited series chronicling the Baltimore Police Department's disastrous Weapons Trace Task Force. Riddled with corruption and scruples, he's the perfect fodder for one of Simon's character studies in Baltimore. Jon Bernthal, Jamie Hector and Josh Charles star in a series of episodes that dived straight into the Simon canon of greatness.
